Who Is Tierra Marketing?
We would like to introduce ourselves and our products to you: We are Tierra Marketing International, or TMI, and we celebrated our 15th year in the supplement business in 1996. Even as the FDA seeks to enhance its police powers, we continue working to bring you products that are available legally and openly throughout the civilized world, but which remain endangered in the United States. We, like you, are hopeful that recent court rulings and victories bring a favorable outlook, and that all of us in the health products arena will see the right to choose health supplements strengthened, rather than eroded any further.

WHAT IS DHEA?

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is produced by the adrenal gland and is the most abundant naturally-occurring hormone in the human body. It's known as the "Mother hormone" because the body can convert it on demand into any of a number of other hormones necessary to health and well-being. In most of us DHEA blood levels decline as we grow older, decreasing by as much as 95% by age 80. The blood level of DHEA is considered one of the most reliable biological indicators of the aging process that we have. DHEA may be the closest we have to a true life-extension/life-enhancement supplement. Dr. Norman Shealy has called DHEA "the physical embodiment of 'chi' " (the Chinese term for vital life force).

DHEA has been documented (in over 2,500 published apers) to have the following effects:

• Improve quality of life by postponing side effects of aging, including fatigue and muscle weakness
• Better sleep
• More energy
• Better ability to cope with stressful life situations
• Anti-cortisol action (Stress can cause the over-production of cortisol, which interferes with the immune system's ability to repair cellular damage.)

Pregnenolone is a naturally-occurring metabolite of cholesterol that acts as a precursor to many other hormones, including DHEA. Pregnenolone has a long-established history of human use without toxic side effects, including the use in the 1940's for the treatment of arthritis. Studies have also shown pregnenolone to be an extremely potent, yet amazingly safe, compound, with the potential for pronounced positive cognitive effects (learning, memory). The advantage with pregnenolone is that since it is a precursor hormone, the body has more latitude to use it in a balanced way as needed. The usual dose is a 10 mg capsule, once or twice a day.

The Dietary supplement Act of 1994 protects the distribution and sale of such products as DHEA, Pregnenolone, and GH3. The burden of proof of harm now rests with the FDA. In other words, the FDA would have to prove the lack of safety or effectiveness of these products before being able to act to stop their sale. [Unlike, the recent past, where they were likely to break down doors with guns drawn and talk about your rights later, if at all]. Since the safety, at reasonable, low dosages, of DHEA, Pregnenolone, and particularly GH3, has never been in question, these can be legally presented to the public. You should consider discussing the use of these supplements with your licensed health practitioner or adviser.
